What I'll Be Watching Next Year

I watch a lot of TV.

What, you hadn’t gathered that already?

I also watch a lot of Netflix.

So I thought I’d compile a list of all the shows I’ll be watching from here until the end of their respective seasons.  I’ve also included new shows for the next season run.

And if you didn’t realize it by now, I watch too much TV.

(8) TV Preview: Once Upon A Time In Wonderland

Doesn’t this just send shivers down your back?  It looks much darker than Once does, and it also looks-- dare I say it?-- better.  Alice looks so BA and the love story (I smell love triangle!) looks adorable.  Like most things by Kitsis and Horowitz (they worked on Lost) it is sure to be much more then it seems, so I’m not even going to venture to guess.

This will be airing mid-season on Thursdays, filling the gap when Once leaves off in order to keep from showing re-runs and keeping fans entertained. 

I wasn’t too excited for this one beside the fact that it’s a spinoff of Once until I saw the trailer.  It totally looks like it could carry its own weight.  I’m sure I won’t be disappointed because, come on, it looks too good to be bad.

Long live the great and terrible minds that run television.

(7) TV Preview: Sleepy Hollow

There isn’t really much to go on with this show, which I’m guessing means it’s a mid-season show.  Anyways, all I can figure is that it’s a retelling of the classic story of Sleepy Hollow.  That’s it.  I kid you not.  I love that story, and only last year I was daydreaming of that exact thing (I actually wrote out the whole pilot episode of my imaginary show).  So… Yeah.  It better be good is all I’m saying.

(6) TV Preview: The Tomorrow People

Two words: Robbie Amell.  That’s right, Stephen Amell’s younger cousin.  And here’s a pic of him so you can soak in the new… um… talent coming to the CW Wednesday Nights after Arrow (I think I’m going to be calling Wednesday Amell night…).

 

Moving away from the best gene pool since the Hemsworth’s, here’s the description of the show taken from IMDB:

The story of several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution, possessing special powers, including the ability to teleport and communicate with each other telepathically. Together they work to defeat the forces of evil.

Excited yet?

And, my favorite character actor of all time, Mark Pellegrino, is in it!  (Bouncing up and down).  He’s actually the original reason I got interested in this show.

It looks awesome.  Who else is excited for Amell Night?

(5) TV Preview: Reign

Reign is another show coming to the CW this season.  It looks promising and very over-dramatized and very un-accurately historical—Just how I like it!  Here’s the summary taken from IMDB:

Chronicles the rise to power of Mary Queen of Scots (Kane) when she arrives in France as a 15-year-old, betrothed to Prince Francis, and with her three best friends as ladies-in-waiting. It details the secret history of survival at French Court amidst fierce foes, dark forces, and a world of sexual intrigue.

I don’t think I can say much more about this show, but it’s the first historical I’ve been interested in since the Hatfields & McCoys mini-series on history, so fingers crossed it’s as good as it sounds.

(4) TV Preview: The Hundred

The Hundred is based off the book, The 100 Kass Morgan, a 2013 debut.  The book is released later, and looks good.  The Hundred is just one of the few YA adaptions that were circulating this year, but it beat out contenders like The Selection for a spot on the CW this fall.

It's not one I'm super excited for, but the concept-- almost a century after evacuating earth, 100 juvenile delinquents are sent to try and recolonize-- and the promise of Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond, anybody?) make it look like something I would like.  I plan on checking out the book when it's released, and you can expect a review!

(3) TV Preview: Intelligence

Intelligence was the one show I was most rooting for this season.  As soon as I heard Josh Holloway was working on the pilot for a show (if you didn’t know, I’m a huge Lost fan) I jumped on board the idea.  Then Meghan Ory (love her too!) joined and I knew I was in love.  The idea behind the show sounds pretty awesome too.  Basically, Josh’s character Gabriel Black is the military’s secret weapon because he has a chip implanted in his head that allows him to do stuff no one else can.  Meghan’s character, Riley O’Neil, is assigned to be his handler of sorts.  Intelligence will be airing on CBS at 10pm and will be a midseason show.  And, if you’re really interested, it’s based of the upcoming YA debut novel Phoenix Island by John Dixon.  How cool is that?

 

(2) TV Preview: Resurrection

There isn't too much out about this show.  The basic idea is that all these dead people in town come back to life, fully normal and human, as if no time has passed at all.  That's the show's summary.  Normally that wouldn't really catch my interest because it sounds so flimsy, but the idea is rather unique.  I can't really say to much about the show right now, because there's nothing to share, but I am excited to see what happens with it.

If you're interested, it's based off the book The Returned by Jason Mott.  I plan on picking it up.  How about you?

(1) TV Preview: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Welcome to my first TV Preview post.  I'll be doing these for the next week to showcase the new shows I'm most interested in for the 2013-2014 season.  First up is a no brainer - SHIELD: Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division.

From right to left, we've got Chloe Bennet playing Skye; Elizabeth Henstridge playing Jemma Simmons; Iain De Caestecker playing Leo Fitz; Clark Gregg playing Phil Coulson (!!!!!!!!!He's alive!!!!!!); Ming-Na Wen playing Melinda May; and Brett Dalton playing Grant Ward.

The pilot is directed by the fantastic Joss Whedon, so what could go wrong?

It'll be on ABC Tuesdays, and I think I may just have to watch this show live if I can.  That says a lot because I have pretty much no time during the year to watch things live.
